Our Story
|
My name is Bill, and with my wife Janet and our three kids, we have been residents of the Carmel / Fishers community for a few years since relocating from Chicago. Though natives of Chicago, this move would be our second to the area. This time, however, we moved to the area at our choice, knowing what a great community it is and wanting to raise our family here. As we settled in, with our two boys ages 13 and 8, at the start of 2007, I found myself in search of, among other things, a good Barber Shop. What I was after, perhaps like you, was a shop like my father used to take me to as a boy in Chicago. A real guy's place, enjoyable to visit, with friendly faces and lively conversation on the news, sports, and the happenings in town. Just as importantly though, I was looking for a place with real quality barbering, which is not easy to find these days it seems. As we looked around, we found many of the traditional old barbershops - had closed, were seriously run down, and were far and few between with very inconvenient hours. We tried out some of the newly emerged sports themed places. While the decor and TVs seemed nice, there were no "barbers" to be found. What we usually got there were poor haircuts by stylists dressed in referee shirts who were obviosly trained to cut women's hair. We also tried the cheap cut places, which minus the sports theme, were pure misery. Here we endured an overpowering smell of hair spray (not the soft scent of shave cream and talc I remember) and another hair stylist with a squirt bottle asking me what number I wanted. Around that time, a friend handed me a card for what he described as a new upscale barber shop in Carmel called Carr's Barbers. This sounded promising. In May 2007, my son's and I first visited and then became regular customers of Carr's Barbers. In Carr's we found exactly what we had been searching for. A nicely appointed comfortable shop, the soft scent of shave cream and talc, friendly conversations of interest, and most importantly, truly skilled barbers. The barbers at Carr's were all very comfortable witha clipper in their hand, guard or no guard, and finished each quality haircut with a hot lather straight razor shave around the edges assuring crisp and even lines. What's more, Carr's offered wonderful hot lather straight razor shaves, a truly relaxing experience and a complimentary beverage with each visit. |
